Smoother Shave with the Best Electric Razors
The sole purpose of an electric razor is to make
your face smoother and less hairy. There are
many factors that can impact the quality and effectiveness of your shave. These
include the type of razor you use, the accessories you purchase, and the brand
of the shaver Electric razor.
There are two types of electric shavers. Foil shaver is a rectangular, boxy design that cuts your
hairs by passing tiny holes through a metal screen. The rotary shaver has three rotating blade mechanisms with
circular metal guards. As your hairs cross the threshold between blade and
guard, they become short.
The Braun Series 7 7027cs is our top choice. It
performs just as well as models costing hundreds of dollars. Braun's shaver has the best combination accessories for a
reasonable price that can cover a wide variety of facial hair styles. It's also
very comfortable and should be simple to use for most people. Although you can get a competent electric shaver for less
than that, the learning curve and lack of add-ons could be problematic. We recommend Andis’ ProFoil or the Panasonic Arc5 ES-LV65–S,
as well as Philips’ Norelco 9500 depending on your budget.
Pros
- It has a strong shaving performance comparable to foil
shavers of much higher price
- Great price for a great selection of accessories, so
you can experiment with many styles of facial hair
- Fast charging and battery life of around an hour
Cons
- The "360-degree" head design can be less
practical and more pleasant than the standard foil shaver top-to-bottom
design.
- There is no way to lock down the shaver's head in one
position.
- It is safe to not use the device while it's charging
and plugged in. The razor supports both wet and dry shaving.
Braun's Series 77027cs shaver is a great value. It
offers a good balance of shaving performance and accessories, without taking up
too much space around your bathroom sink. The
simple design, which includes two foil cutters with a single central trimmer,
was able to cut two days worth of stubble, multiple days worth of longer hair
growth, and it performed as well as other Braun shavers, even those that cost
hundreds more. It also caused less irritation
than higher-priced rotary shavers.
Each Braun Series 7 electric razor is identical.
The model numbers indicate what's inside the box. The 7027cs model comes with a simple travel case, a charging
stand, and five trimming guards. This is worth
$20 more than the basic Series7 7020s which has only a travel case and
precision trimmer. Macklan Clendenin from the
San Francisco Institute of Esthetics and Cosmetology told us that the Braun is
his favorite. He loves all of its accessories. The
7071cc replaces trimming guards and a charging stand. However, it takes up much
more space than a standard station and can charge and clean your razor. The Series 7 7085cc is the best choice if you need it all.
The 7027cs is not perfect. The "360-degree" head pivots side to side from a
central point. This gives it a slightly awkward feel than shavers with a large,
sturdy head unit attached at the sides. The
head cannot be locked into a fixed position. Our
biggest complaint was the inability to use the shaver while it's charging and
plugged in. This is a reasonable safety feature, but still irritating. Although technically waterproof, it can still be used in the
shower. However, everyone we spoke with said that this could decrease the
shaver’s lifespan. The shaver provided us with
just over an hour for sustained shaving, and it took about half an hour to
charge the battery. Even if you forgot your
power cable, that should suffice for most vacation shaves.
